I would imagine some pretty sharp minds are looking at this issue. I would think some kind of load sensor similar to automotive air bag technology could be employed to distinguish between the load of increased spead and the sharp increase of a strike and retract the foil or rudder or allow it to kick up. Please post anything you see related to this.
