Good question.  The FAQ refers to beam mounted rudders.   The hull mounted rudders cannot turn more than 30 degrees each way.  The boat will stay hove to with them pointed fore and aft, but if the heaving to is due to strong wind/big waves, you would be better off lifting them.  Same applies to the beam mounted ones when the waves get huge.

the cruiser 50 spec sheet says "The rudders are 2 way sections, so they can be much closer to the hull and do not have to rotate through 369 degrees."

 

my question is, will they still rotate to 90 so that is possible to heave to?  from the pictures it looks like the answer is "no".
