Hi Robin,

Welcome to the group.  All your plans are either possible, or already in place; I like the idea of the tie down points on the WW hull cabin roof for your tender during road transit.  I'm not sure the booms are long enough to reach all the way completely over the ww hull to act a davits, but again, a single boom with a lifting cradle/4-point sling could be made to work here.

The rudders are still undergoing continual improvement/evolution.  I've yet to see pictures of completed set-ups of the latest version, but all the engineering of loads has been worked through, although remote raising of the rudders would be a little more troublesome to perfect. Dinghy style vertical raising lines/halyards could be utilised, but would need careful routing to avoid adding drag when below the surface.

In answer to your query on the 180 rotation of the rudders, this referred to early uni-directional rudders when they were still rotated at each shunt (see the pictures of Rare Bird, etc under http://harryproa.com/?p=124 for a better idea).  The latest design utilise bi-directional section and only rotate through ~30 degrees, simplifying linkages and allowing them to be positioned much closer to the lee hull.  The Cruiser 50/60, etc use a single wheel to control both rudders, as you intend; the only difference being the cables will require careful planning of their routing to avoid issues during folding on a 40F.

Again, nothing insurmountable; indeed I'm sure most of this has been worked through (and most even tried on a harryproa; there are a number of test beds out there...!).  I'm sure the more knowledgeable on this site will chime in with what's been completed already and any other tips.

You're in good company.

Regards,

Scott
