Ha ha, the Salt Lake is salty all right! Haven't sailed on it yet though, although many years ago there was an F-boat sailing there.
HP appeals to me for many reasons. Light, fast, inexpensive (supposedly) easily handled (seems very well suited for a single hander), and last but not least, quirky and out of the ordinary!
Love the idea of no daggerboard, just rudders, outboard propulsion, at first, the easily handled balestrom rig, then the idea of the unstayed schooner rig.  The new renditions are lovely, although they seem to lack some necessities for an ocean cruiser, but those are easily added.
