Thanks.  Momentous indeed.  Last launch was probably 9 years ago, in Perth, but there have been a lot of builds (6 hulls from 6-15m, sundry beams and masts) since then while we developed Intelligent Infusion. Bucket List is the last of these as Int Inf is now well established, although the search for the ultimate race boat is continuing.

I was amusing myself last night looking at what could be done better on the next BL.  We could easily remove 25% of the weight (a lot of which is builder stuff ups) without altering the materials used, probably another 10% with more expensive materials.

The How Fast is Bucket List competition is in 2 parts.

First is the distance upwind it will sail in 5 minutes on one tack and 5 on the other.  eg, if it sails at 10 knots upwind and tacks/shunts through 90 degrees the distance between start and finish will be 1.17 nautical miles,  Tacking angles less than 90 degrees will increase the distance.

Second is flat out max instantaneous speed on
the fastest point of sail.

Other information is at http://harryproa.com/?p=1837

Enter by emailing me your estimates, either directly or on the chat group.

Looks like we will be sailing (conservatively, with a deep reefed main) this weekend which might give some data points to consider.

Hi Rob,

Congrats on launch.

This seems very monumentous.

This is your first own boat launch since, when?

You kept selling the ones you made. I hope you don't sell this one.

Can I guess the top speed here or is there a special web page to go to?

What were the rules again.

Average or top speed on GPS.

I don't really know, must be at least 20-25 knots.

Say 24.
