Dear Robs,

I don't think it is a huge problem.  In Australia the market will be tiny.  If I was making them I would do it in the USA, or Mexico, Sth America, Thailand etc.  Only an unduly courageous person of questionable intelligence would think of manufacturing anything in Australia..

Because the market is small, you wouldn't need a big shed for making the kits yet, and you can be in a cheaper rental area to do it.  Say the rental was $30K pa.  You have the occasional builder and he can share the space that you are using.  The services are still the same.  Just bill him very reasonably for the square footage he takes up and for the time your folks help him with his boat, and you are at least square.  My vision would be to build the kit to as near completed l/w hull as possible, completed w/w hull to basic frames, no fit-out.  You never know, you might get the painting job.

What this concept needs is boats in the water and happy customers loyal to the Harryproa brand.

Thanks.

ChrisH
