So this seems like a good separate topic.


In what conditions will you be wishing for some very large spinnaker or kite?


Will this happen regularly or rarely enough to simply make do with your standard HP mast and sails?


I want something like a BL with a cruising ww hull (but still minimalist).

Also am a schooner fan, would like to keep mast heights to minimum possible.

So with this sort of a boat it seems like you should be able to keep up a reasonable speed except in real calms.

Western Australia and also the rest of Australia is not known for its lack of wind.


Dead down wind is not the best angle, it's better to go a bit off course and then shunt back again.
