Brian Charrette has a Cat2Fold and often trials it down Mexico way. Apparently it is seriously fast. Downwind he has been known to set it wing and wing with a spinnaker in between.

WIth 3 sides of carbon, with one side open.For the mast you could add extra support there while sailing and make it fairly solid and strong.Doug
