Lowering the CoE and increasing the drive for the same sail area will certainly improve top speed when reaching.  The lower aspect rig will reduce upwind pointing ability in light winds but halving the sail area to one high aspect sail would increase windward speed in stronger wind.  The crowding in the windward polars now occurring from 9 to 15kts of wind would open out a bit.  In that case it would help if the masts were low drag sections rather than round tube.
