I just googled plywood prices in Perth and see you can get marine plywood for $35 a sheet. Not sure if there is a minimum pack size involved.
With marine ply you could discount strength contribution required by adding glass. The ply alone would handle the function of hull strength. So then you can eliminate areas of glass where waterproofing/protection is not so important.
Naturally keep bottom and up part of the sides as glass covered on the outside, but the rest and all of inside surfaces need not get glassed. Saving time and money. Taping seams/joins ofcourse.

One down side is the extra weight makes moving, launching retrieving more of an effort. I liked theway Rob's Bucket List launch was done on a trolley with easy manual lifting.

Ask Rob what he gets the XPS 400kpa for there in Australia. Might be cheaper than ply, if you cut to thickness, and wont rot. Rob wants to see it work anyway.
