I have been reading the many mails about the requirements for a small cat...
I was also looking for a small basic cat or tri because I wanted fast, light, cheap.
For sure if I could do with expensive I would just forget about anything else and just go buy a Gunboat G4 tomorrow!

I liked the tri more because the added advantage of trailerable design available and the cat split the living space in 2 narrow ones. But the number of hours to build a Farrier was scary! I also liked very much the tortured ply building as a way to reduce hull building complexity and time...

Then I found the Harry and I was hit by how good it fit my minimal boat, fast, light, cheap requirements without splitting the accommodations. It also provides me with a safer more stable long waterline which is a combination not available in any other designs! And the flat infused then fold building simplicity is potentially amazing!

I personally consider a 40-50 ft long , 3 feet high, 1.5 feet wide hull small!.....The same as a 65 feet long, 12 feet wide trailer home is double the length of a normal home... But it is still a small home!

So my ideal Harry is very minimal ww hull, 40+ lw hull that doubles as a storage box, foldable to trailering width and foldable lw hull ends for transport and occasional very tight marina.
Then comes the choice of a heavier hard deck and big tender vs a light net and kayak! As since there is no mast, shroud loads in the ww hul, it could be made to fit each one requirements and taste...
But that also comes with redesign costs and complexity of a one-off that I think we are very often dismissing too easily! It is not an easy and small task just to build the thing... Now I start to see any modifications as years of delays in me enjoying sailing!

So I am coming to the conclusion that the Air40 with somehow thick insulated zip-on for cold/rainy weather (plastic zip-on doubled with aluminized bubble wrap?) could make me a happy sailor soon!
