Chris:
    Aluminum does not bond well with adhesives.  It is done in aviation all the time, but in extremely controlled conditions with rigorous surface prep, and even then it has little peel resistance, requiring mechanical fasteners along the edge for insurance.   It's of course a different situation when it is completely encapsulated.   I'd look at bonding in a wood strip, and perhaps screwing an aluminum wear strip over it.........

Another question along the same vein. I am planning my next build to be a rowing dinghy using robs methods. The problem with is dragging the dinghy over the shore chews out the paint and the fibreglass. Has any one had any experience laying a strip of aluminium into the layup before infusion so it is bonded onto the hull?
