El was sprayed with paving paint in 2011, including below the waterline. It sat on polystyrene floats so was out of the water, but they disappeared and it spent~6 months in the water.  Long enough to grow some weed and normal barnacles which came off with a scaper and a scotchbrite pad and some flat barnacles which were a bitch to remove (whack them with a sharp scraper to remove most of it, then chip away at the sticky piece stuck to the hull), but neither the barnacles nor the scraping damaged the paint.

I use water based paving paint for anything I care about that will be in the sun. Looks ordinary when brushed or rolled, but good when sprayed.   Lasts at least 6 years before turning chalky which gets on your clothes and skin but is still protective.  I have unpainted bits on El that I don't care about that have been in the sun (South East Queensland, pretty sunny) for several years and are still sound.  Eventually the resin in the top layer or 2 disappears and it needs another coat.  If it is loaded, the affected layers need to sanded off and replaced.  

If the T is not stored in the sun, and not sailed every day, then it should be fine with no paint.  Your call on exposure, looks and non slip.

Hi folks

Rob has made some suggestions about house paint for cheap test platforms. I have seen it referenced in other discussions but can't find his origin all posts. Rob or anyone can you recoment on what paints that were suggested.  I will be mostly in fresh water and I will be modifying an old plywood and fiberglass tornado with west system epoxy.
