I only read the abstract, but would point out that carbon fiber starts with a 14 times bigger carbon foot print than steel, and wins over time.
A lot of this carbon math is silly. Like epoxy is made from fuel by products. How do you calculate its carbon load in this case?
Not that we shouldn't try.
Interesting that carbon fibers are recyclable, by burning off everything else.
