I was speaking of hauling enough divinicell to build Sagitta..... just a few hundred pounds.  For me there is good reason NOT to use a trailer.  Mainly the fact that I would combine the trip with family visitation, as the distance is hundreds of miles, and trailers are a nuisance in the dense urban areas where my mother lives.  Parking would be impossible, and of course I don't know anybody with a LITTLE trailer.   Everybody has their own circumstances of course.  The logistics of getting materials, for me make car topping the best choice... it's well within the capacity of my Outback to haul all the foam I need, as well as most if not all the glass.  I'd order the epoxy from Raka.    I could also drive my pickup.... full size... and that would be preferable to dragging a trailer around the city.

Well, if you borrow a trailer, you can bring enough foam for a hull or two, so can't be much of an issue=)
I think the issue is the financial commitment and risk of using this unproven material =)

I was looking at carrying a bunch of it back on the roof rack by sandwiching it between two sheets of ordinary half inch plywood or OSB, tied together in a bundle with ratchet straps or fibeglass strapping tape.

My local fibreglass supplier is about a 15 minute drive away. He has foam sheets.  My problem is I can’t put them on the roof rack so have to borrow my mates trailer which is big enough to fit full sheets in flat.

Ply vs foam/glass at the extremes is not about strength or stiffness.  3mm foam with 100 gsm glass each side would be about the same stiffness as 3mm ply, but would have no impact resistance.  25mm ply has similar stiffness to 25mm core with 1,5000 gsm each side, but is far heavier.

I think what ply has, that even Woods wasnt able to comprehend

Ply has utility, if you can take it off the rack, or buy it somewhere locally and deliver it yourself
you didnt have to make it, it was just there, it has an immediacy of purpose that for an average use exceeded the requirement. Mark it out, cut it up, install, resin, peel ply, ... bang job done.

Not to say you couldnt have foam core sheets in the same way, but we dont ...
