This is not really boat related.

Did my first 'vac bag'. My epoxy is too thick, so I wetted out two 8" square pieces of glass and carbon on a sheet of glass and put it under a bag to learn a thing. It seemed It was pretty easy to get better than 1:1 resin to fiber by weight.

It went OK. A lot of things I worried about, like fittings, didn't matter. Apparently cheap plastic push fit fittings and hose barbs work just fine under vacuum.

Things I didn't worry about did.
The vac line to bag interface was a problem. I didn't want to wait for the correct fitting, so tried it with a T fitting and butyl. While I could not get it sealed, someone else probably could have.

Holding vac is important.
I was just screwing around with a piece of carbon and glass and a very clear non yellowing crafting epoxy. Since it didn't matter and I could not seem to fix the leak i just let it bleed down, figuring it was past the gel time. The carbon was fine but the glass lifted a folded over (hemmed) edge, and was 'starved'. Under vac it laid fine, and was wetted out.

Also, cheap one stage vac pumps blow oil if you cannot hold more than 25" of vac. So holding vac is important.

Apparently this epoxy sticks to glass somewhat. Any thoughts on easy removal?
