I just waxed the glass with the car wax I normally use for waxing the car.

No.  I am lazy so use either plastic sheet, brown tape or one of the the water based releases, none of which will improve the surface the way multiple waxes will.    Any decent wax (carnauba seems to be an important ingredient) will do.   Try it first.

Do you have a recommendation for a release wax?

| The epoxy wil soften at less than 100C/212F so more than a blanket,
| less
| than a flame. Hot air guns, or blower heaters work well.

| Depends on the epoxy. Some are brittle ebfore full sure and will
| chip off,
| others are soft and won't. The less it is cured, the lower the heat
| to
| soften it and get it off.

| release won't affect the finish if applied properly. Plastic sheet
| might
| and might also show wrinkles if there is no peel ply layer.
| Unpoilshed wax
| might leave a residue on the part making painting or secondary
| bonding
| difficult.
