| Unlikely you will get a good finish from plastic, although the finish from packing tape is shiny, but the overlaps show, so maybe wide strips of it would work, but not as well as a polished surface. Shiny epoxy is not much of a surface as it goes chalky in sunlight. The usual solution is to lightly sand it, then plenty of coats of clear 2 pack polyurethane with uv inhibitors, with sanding every few coats.

So I imagine, as packing tape is rather shiny, like glass, the finish will be like whatever it is against. Which seems obvious, in retrospect.

These parts are being done with a thick clear non yellowing epoxy called art resin. It is designed to do stuff like be shiny and not go chalky. But we will see.

Doing another play experiment on the weekend.
