So if I understand it, peel ply on the inside surface of the mold is not integral to intelligent infusion, it is a finishing choice. Rob's default finish as I understand it is quick and cheerful, rather than high gloss. Peel ply on the inside does have some advantages for places where there will be secondary bonding, and potentially for slightly better fiberglass/resin ratio (not sure why this is true).


My personal choice would be smooth waxed mold finish, then paint as I like the look, but I'm sure you could do gelcoat as well. However, I think gelcoat might be problematic on any of the folded flat panels, as gelcoat is much stiffer/more brittle than fiberglass, and might not bend happily.
