Afaik, a barrel roll is only aerobatic because it exceeds the angle of bank and pitch which define aerobatic flight.

As such, its off limits because certification says aerobatic flight is all or nothing. Most manufactures don't certificate an aircraft for acrobatic flight, for reasons.

But not being certificated for aerobatic flight, and not able to safely barrel roll are two very different things.

Afaik, all flying machines can do a barrel roll. Except LTA. Perhaps I forgot others.

I will bet there are videos of your glider type doing barrel rolls on the tubes.

| A barrel roll is a positive g maneuver, but depending on where in the roll you are varies from maybe .5g to 2 or 3g. The gliders I fly are rated for spins and loops but not any roll maneuvers. Most small production powered planes are not rated for any aerobatic maneuvers, doesn't mean they couldn't do one, just that they shouldn't as the manufacturer won't guarantee the wings will stay on.
