  Ha!  And you have the actual on-water experience in a small proa to
legitimately ask that question.

  I'd be happy with a 36" wide pipe berth in the leeward hull..  But if
I'm going to bring my family, the space requirements grow. Partially
because, as much as I love my wife, I like being able to roll away at
night and get some air between us when it's hot out.

  Plus, if I'm going to spend too much on a boat, I might as well
address a perceived need others have, just in case I ever want to sell
it.  It's the same reason we went with two full baths in the house we
built instead of the 1.0 or 1.5 that would have been fine for our needs.
