So, just thinking about a folding beam "a la" Farrier, and was supposing the beam could be changed around with curves, some slope (from the horizontal) and a higher above waterline meeting point at the lw hull.

Hence you could fold more of the overall beam. If it has to reduce from a 5m beam in sailing mode, then you would want 2m or more folded up.

This would mean the beam isn't\' horizontal and that doesn't matter much as it can be at an angle to the other parts like deck, cockpit and ww hull.

This was reminding me that I thought that it would actually be more comfortable to have your seats and cockpit angled down to windward. It is more secure feeling when sitting and sailing to be resting against the heel of the boat.

Certainly don't want to be slipping off the seat down to lee as you start sailing.

I reckon the seats should be angled to counter expected heel plus some extra as well rather than just be level when boat heels.

Obviously the heel won't be much on bigger cruiser, but could be significant enough on smaller ones.

Also how about canting the hullsslightly so that the bottom panels will be level after some few degrees of heel.

5 degrees? Too much?
