Thank you for this guided tour. I am surprised the advantages of the curved shaft do not scale that much.  


Rob once suggested a large, engine powered, surface piercing prop from the beam.

The human engine is less efficient than the diesel engine and it produces an emission of 60% Nitrogen, 20% Hydrogen, 10% Carbon Dioxide, 5–10% Methane, 5% Oxygen and Hydrogen Sulfide at 1% (acid rain!) depending on the composition of the fuel ;-)
