Bob,
$1k total. The maslow itself with depth control (you need this, it makes things much easier) about $500. You build a frame to mount the motors on (1 piece 3/4 ply and 2x4) $70. The good router about $150. There are some other odds and ends but the improvements came from modifying the frame and how the chains hang on the motors. The 1st iteration was erratic getting within 8 inches of the edges of the 4x8 plywood sheet (you have one chain almost all the way in and the other all the way out). Another improvement was how the sled is attached to the chains. The old one was prone to "flips" at the edges. The rest of it was computer coding. The calibration is much easier and more accurate than the original. When you have 5000 guys who blew $500 on the kickstarter (with their wives saying "I told you it wouldn't work!) eventually things get better.

That's great to hear someone on this board has a Maslow and is happy with the quality now. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, mainly because of early inaccuracy issues and not knowing what more's needed to be invested monetarily in improvements.

I'm seriously interested in routing sheets of balsa for a test fit scale model to see if everything fits accurately enough, catch errors in my design, get some G-CODE skills,  and at the very least get to CNC full sized forms.

I don't know enough about the Maslow CNC system and what enhancements are needed. When I read up more on the Maslow system, I'll post additional questions. Is see you've got $1k in improvements. Please tell me about those.

Thanks.
