Make certain you distinguish between cam cleat and rope clutch.  From my limited experience with rope clutches, they do not survive many operations when released under load. A cam cleat is simpler, lower cost and quite reliable so a better choice.   Clurthes also make a habit of not running free when the clutch is released.

It is much easier than winching it up by hand.  It is also used to raise someone up the mast to do inspections or change mast fittings.  We had hopes of running the drill off the 48V system to avoid separate charger but the battery is a complicated beast, so designed to make it transportable in an aircraft without expensive packaging.   

Also it is more economic in the long run to get the right size winch or next size up than trying to economise by going a size smaller. Same thing with any pulley blocks.  In my view cheap stainless blocks with just a bushed shaft are probably better value than expensive plastic blocks with nylon rollers.
