Could not agree more.  Even with warm water, getting soaked gets old quickly. As does a one part mainsheet and steering with a paddle.  I have designed a rudder (not kicking up, not very liftable, only works in one direction, but simple) for the mini cargo proa if the paddle is not popular.

First sail tomorrow, all going well.  Got to make the launch trolley fit,  install the beams (not as easy as it should be, hopefully because the hulls were not floating free) and the rig which is several times heavier than the one on the prototype.

Rob,

  Great photos and video!

My first thought was that the sailing canoe looked like great fun, particularly since the water where I live rarely goes above 18 C.  Sliding along, enjoying the spray, ahhh.  The utter simplicity of a steering oar, and no blocks, winches, clutches, or cleats is nice to see.

The next thought was that single-handing is basically out.  Man, that thing is a lot of work.  And wet.

There's something to be said about a bit of tech -- a carbon fiber unstayed mast, 2:1 mainsheet, and kick-up foils with a carbon fiber tiller extension, and you've got a whole new experience.
